A cremation facility applied Cremkote to the crown and walls of the main chamber and the walls of the afterburner chamber of its natural-gas cremation units, on refractory brick with the hearth left uncoated. Energy use fell 21%, cycle times shortened, and the project returned its cost in under a year.

Why did it work?
Coated chamber surfaces absorb burner energy and re-radiate it uniformly into the chamber instead of losing it to the flue, so the unit reaches and holds temperature on less gas and completes each cycle sooner. See Crematories.
